# Payments & Payouts

This guide explains how earnings work on [adly.news](https://adly.news), how to set up payouts, and how to withdraw your money to your bank account.

## Understanding Your Earnings

### How You Earn

You earn money when businesses book your ad slots:

1. **Business books and pays** — Payment is collected
2. **Platform fee deducted** — 13% goes to the platform
3. **Your earnings** — 87% goes to your balance

### Balance Types

You have two types of balances:

| Balance Type          | Description                                        |
| --------------------- | -------------------------------------------------- |
| **Pending Balance** | Earnings from confirmed bookings not yet completed |
| **Available Balance** | Funds ready to withdraw to your bank |

### How Earnings Move

```
Booking Confirmed → Pending Balance
         ↓
Booking Completed (ad published)
         ↓
Pending Balance → Available Balance
         ↓
You request withdrawal
         ↓
Funds arrive in your bank (2-5 business days)
```

### CPL Earnings

For CPL (Cost Per Lead) bookings, earnings work differently:

* The business's max payout is escrowed when the booking is created
* After you publish the ad, leads are collected for **4 days**
* Your earnings are calculated as `leads × cost per lead`, capped at the max payout
* The standard 13% platform fee is applied to your calculated earnings
* The remaining amount moves to your available balance

> **Example:** A CPL booking has $10/lead with a $500 max payout. You generate 35 leads. Your calculated earnings are $350. After the 13% fee ($45.50), you receive $304.50 in your available balance.

## Pending Bookings

### Understanding Pending Balance

Pending balance comes from confirmed bookings that haven't been completed yet:

* The business has paid
* The ad hasn't been published yet
* Funds will become available after the scheduled date passes

### Viewing Pending Bookings

The Payments page shows pending bookings with:

* Newsletter name
* Business name
* Scheduled date
* Your earnings (after platform fee)

### Moving Funds to Available

Funds automatically move to your available balance:

1. Publish the ad on the scheduled date
2. The booking is automatically marked as **Complete** after the scheduled date
3. Funds move to your available balance

No manual action is required — just publish the ad as scheduled.

## Platform Fees

### Fee Structure

| Component         | Percentage |
| ----------------- | ---------- |
| **Your Earnings** | 87%        |
| **Platform Fee**  | 13%        |

### Example

If a booking is $100:

* Platform fee: $18
* Your earnings: $82

### When Fees Are Applied

Fees are deducted when the booking is confirmed. The amounts shown in your balances are already net of platform fees.

## Troubleshooting

If expected earnings aren't showing:

1. Verify the booking status is **Confirmed**

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://adly-news.gitbook.io/adly.news-docs/02-newsletter-owners/09-payments-and-payouts.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
